 ORANJE ROUTE

The Oranje Route - Links to a Royal Family

The house of Orange-Nassau is one of the oldest and best known dynasties within Europe. Its founders and predecessors, including those of the kingdom of the Netherlands originated in Hesse, in the heart of Germany. Through the centuries, the Orange dynasty spread across Europe and left countless tracks. There are numerous places in Europe that serve to remind us of their political, cultural and social influences, primarily in the Netherlands and Germany but also in other European countries.
The Orange route is a fascinating journey of discovery through 25 German and Dutch cities and holiday regions historically linked with the house of Orange-Nassau. This trip through splendid holiday landscapes, with numerous palaces, castles and gardens as well as a variety of art treasures to be found in museums and exhibitions, is a silent witness to the grandeur of past centuries and an emphatic reminder of the Orange dynasty. The hospitality of many historic cities, an extensive calendar of events and the calm and natural beauty of numerous holiday regions between Amsterdam and Schwerin make the Orange route a unique cultural experience in Europe.
