 AFFILIATES OF THE GNTB

Fraport AG

Fraport AG logo
Fraport AG, the successful owner and manager of Frankfurt Airport, ranks among the world’s leading enterprises in the airport business. Our customers on location are not the only ones to benefit from our many years’ experience: we also provide our integrated know-how – spanning the whole gamut of airport products and services – at a number of different locations around the world. Working with us means: high quality, consistent customer orientation and a highly motivated staff team!

Frankfurt Airport
109 airlines take off from Germany’s biggest airport to 304 destinations in over 110 countries worldwide. With upwards of 51 million passengers handled in 2004, FRA is the world’s 8th-largest airport in terms of passenger turnover. An international hub for all the main arteries of transportation, Frankfurt is a model of intermodality in the middle of Germany and Europe. But the airport urgently needs to expand if it is to safeguard its competitiveness and meet future capacity requirements. Our plans for the years ahead include the construction of an A380 maintenance base (2007), a new runway (2009) and a Terminal 3 (2015). Thanks to the current structural alterations, we can already handle the new A380 widebody jet. A new runway will increase capacity by 50 percent.

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport
This airport is conveniently located at the center of Europe, near the Rhine-Main, Cologne-Bonn, Mannheim-Ludwigshafen and Luxembourg conurbations. Fraport AG has held a 65-percent stake in the airport operating company, Flughafengesellschaft Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH, since January 1998. In the space of only ten years, Germany’s first low-cost airport with a 24-hour license has become the country’s 11th-biggest international commercial airport. Aircraft regularly take off from Frankfurt-Hahn for 15 neighboring European countries. With its 2.8 million passengers in 2004 and 8,000 passengers a day, it’s one of the fastest-growing airports in Germany.
Rapid on-travel is assured by a host of shuttlebus connections to the Rhine-Main region – along with several rent-a-car services: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz (its 3rd-biggest station in Germany) and Sixt.

Fraport AG also holds stakes in the airports at Saarbrücken, Hannover, Antalya (Turkey), Cairo (Egypt) and Lima (Peru).

Cooperation agreements and partners
The ideal and also commercially practical linkage of private and public interests - the "private-public partnership" - has been the guiding principle behind the GNTB from the outset. In times of budget constraints and increasing competition, this partnership between the state and private enterprise is more important than ever. Cooperation agreements and the pooling of budgets are thus the way forward in the marketing of Germany as a travel destination.
